NATIONAL CERTIFICATION RECERTIFICATION REFERENCE GUIDE
1)  Courses from non-Approved Providers (formerly called Category B courses) will be honored at a 1:1 ratio, for Certificants with an expiration date up to 12/31/2012. Beginning January 1, 2013,  all non-Approved Provider courses that meet NCBTMB criteria will be honored at a 2:1 ratio for recertifying Certificants. This would include any lapsed status Certificants.
2)  If submitting all forty-eight (48) hours from non-Approved Providers, remember that six (6) of the forty-eight (48) must be Ethics hours. For complete details about Ethics, see Ethics Coursework Compliance found in this Reference Guide.

For latest National Board Category B acceptance see:
http://www.ncbtmb.org/recertification.php

This is as quoted from NCBTMB’s website and it shows a significant change.

PART 2: NON-APPROVED PROVIDER COURSEWORK  (Up to 48 Continuing Education Hours).    The NCBTMB is committed to the ongoing review and elevation of national standards of continuing education. Only courses that fall within the NCBTMB guidelines and requirements for continuing education will be accepted. (See Continuing Education Criteria found in this Reference Guide)
Although we encourage you to use NCBTMB Approved Providers for your continuing education recertification hours, we understand that you may desire to take coursework from non-Approved Providers (formerly called Category B courses).
